Tim Walz: Our Kind of White Guy.
The perfect white guy exists and Kamala Harris found him.
The perfect white guy exists. Who knew? His name is Tim Walz and our Madame Vice President found him!
To be honest, I had given up on American politics and mentally preparing for a second Trump presidency. It was killing me slowly inside. The Harris-Walz ticket is making me remember how much I love analyzing the politics of race and gender. And what we are witnessing now is history I thought maybe America could not be ready for.
Crazy to think it was just a few weeks ago, like most Democrats, I had zero to little hope about the future of democracy/women’s right/the climate or any of the key issues after that painful debate performance from President Joe Biden.
Fast forward to today, American politics is on a whole new planet and it’s full of JOY. To say that Biden’s decision to back Harris as his replacement has energized the Democratic party is an understatement. I feel full of hope and energy.
Oh and I absolutely love that Trump is about to get destroyed by a Black woman. The debates can’t happen soon enough for me!
But as someone who has done her bashing of mediocre white guys (see here and here and here), Tim Walz reminds me of the American dad I never knew I even wanted. I love that he was a Social Studies teacher who knows how to attack for and defend VP Harris which is crucial because things are about to get uglier and pettier. And more racist.
Aside from “America’s Dad” energy, Walz is GREAT on all the key issues such as abortion, LGBTQ rights, climate change and IVF, which is an issue that hits home for Walz.
“Gwen and I have two beautiful children because of reproductive health care like IVF,” Walz said in a Facebook post, which he wrote after the shocking Alabama Supreme Court decision banning IVF earlier this year.
“This issue is deeply personal to our family and so many others…Don’t let these guys get away with this by telling you they support IVF when their handpicked judges oppose it.”
