A Bit About Me

Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for reading (and hopefully subscribing) to my newsletter. I am Anushay Hossain, author of The Pain Gap: How Sexism and Racism in Healthcare Kill Women (Simon and Schuster, 2021). It was always my dream to write books. The Pain Gap is an Audible bestseller and was excerpted in Vogue. It’s also released internationally in Japan so if you’re ever in Tokyo and see it in a bookstore, send me a pic!

You might have also read my work in Forbes, CNN, USA TODAY, and Newsweek amongst others. I also host “The Pain Gap Podcast” which features in-depth conversations with top medical experts and feminist doctors about the expanding women’s health crisis in America.

Once upon a time (2009-2020 to be specific), I regularly popped up on CNN, MSNBC, PBS and other networks providing political commentary. Since the publication of my bestselling book in 2021, I’ve been completely focused on defending and advancing healthcare for women. Why? Because for me, women’s health isn’t just an issue, it’s THE issue. Women’s health and rights in the world’s richest democracy is in crisis. And that’s unacceptable in my book.
